Christians become rooted and established by the truth in God’s Word. The Apostle Paul knew that, and that is why he wrote the book of Romans — to explain the truth of God’s plan of salvation. I believe he also wrote it so that we would share its clear message with those who are not yet born again spiritually or saved.
There are several verses in Romans that help us to realize WHY we need to be saved, HOW we can be saved, and the result WHEN we are saved. I want to encourage you to memorize these verses and take them deep into your heart.
Romans 3:23
“All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.”
Folks, sin separates us from the God who loves us. He intended that we should be His image bearers. We never can be as long as sin dominates our lives.
Romans 5:8
“God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
We are born with a sinful nature. We are to bring honor and glory to the God who loves us, but we can’t until that old nature is crucified and we receive a brand-new nature by faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 6:23
The wages (penalty) of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our LORD. The Creator told Adam and Eve, our first parents, that they would die if they disobeyed Him and ate the forbidden fruit. They disobeyed, ate the fruit and their natures became corrupt. That fallen nature has been passed on to us ever since.
In Romans 5:12 we read, “Therefore, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all sinned—”
Romans 19:9
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is LORD and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” What an amazing promise! God, through faith in Christ, forgives our sins, accepts us into His eternal family, and gives us eternal life.
Listen to this in Romans 5:18-19 “Therefore, as through one man’s offense (Adam) judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s (Jesus) righteous act the gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience, many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be righteous.” Talk about amazing grace!
Romans 10:13
“Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” In our sinful state, we are separated from the God who loves and we are condemned. But when we repent of our sins and welcome Christ into our lives, as Savior and LORD, we are not condemned.
In Romans 8:1 we read, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Holy Spirit.”
Dear one, whom God loves, have you called on Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and thereby receive the free gift of eternal life?
If you haven’t, the Bible teaches that you will be eternally separated from God in a place called hell.
If you do receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and LORD, when you die you will forever be with Him, in Heaven, which is the Father’s house.
Folks, there are no chances to repent after you die. In Revelation 3:20 we read, “Behold, I (Jesus) stand at the door (of his/her heart) and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
The choice is yours —
· Forever with the LORD when this life is over.
· Forever separated from the LORD when this life is over.
In His Glory,
Pastor Leonard
