1. This Sunday (12.10), Pastor Sherrow has pulled out all the stops for our Christmas Musical in both services (10 & 11:30 AM) – JESUS, What a Wonderful Child. The celebration choir, band, and JoyBells will be participating to make this a joyful worship celebration. Invite your family and friends to attend. And when they come, help us connect with them. Encourage your guests to fill out our info card and take it to the Welcome Center.
2. Our All-Church Christmas Dinner is Friday, Dec. 15th at 6 PM. Our special guests are Robert and Jackie Malone — a husband and wife singing duo. They are GREAT! Folks, we are nearly sold out, so don’t wait until the last minute to sign up. The cost is $15. PLEASE, IF YOU SIGN UP AND THEN ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND, CONTACT THE CHURCH OFFICE ASAP. There will be a WAITING LIST for the Christmas dinner.
3. Special! Special! Special! We have reserved 30 places to go on the Harbor Cruise (12.21) and see the Christmas lights. It is a wonderful experience. Cost is $18 per person. SPACE IS LIMITED, and people were hurrying to sign up on Sunday, so don’t wait. RSVP on Sunday between services by the Café Counter, or come to the Church Office during the week.
4. On Sunday, Christmas Eve (12.24) we will have one morning service at 10 AM. Then at 4 PM, we will have our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. It will be a wonderful Sunday as we come together to celebrate our Savior’s birth.
5. Men’s Breakfast & Bible Study every Thursday at 6 AM. Our guys fix a terrific breakfast, we have a short time of worship and then time in the word. What a great way to meet and make new friends.
6. Our Women’s Bible Study is on Wednesdays at 10 AM. Come at 9:30 AM for coffee/cookies and fellowship around the tables. What a blessing that our ladies are excited to be together and study God’s word.
7. Attention, ALL VJF Ladies!! On Wednesday, December 13 at 10 AM you are invited to our WONDERFUL EXCHANGE Christmas Celebration! It will be a great time of fellowship with games, worship, a sneak peek at our 2024 PROVERBS study, and of course, our Christmas cookie exchange extravaganza!! Bring 3 dozen homemade cookies – 2 for the exchange and 1 to sample.
8. Church directories are BACK IN STOCK! Pick up a copy (1 per household, please) at the Welcome Center.
9. Every Thursday at 11 AM, you can join a group of people in our library for an hour of prayer. We have so much to pray about – our church ministries, around the world, our church family, and our nation. God’s word says to “devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” Please join us!
10. Our Monthly Grief Support Group will be meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 12th. Come join others and share under the direction of Certified Grief Counselor, Paul Lenderman. Time – 4 PM in the Library/Conference room.
11. Membership – just recently we had 8 people become members of Jubilee. Maybe you are ready to officially join. Membership forms are at the Welcome Center desk. Pick one up, complete it, and return it to the church office. We will notify you when the next class is.
12. Baptism – If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, but have not professed your faith through water baptism – and would like to, please pick up an application at the Welcome Center or information table. Read and complete, then return to the church office. The date for our next baptism will be set.
2024 UPCOMING EVENTS
- SPRING BIBLE CONFERENCE with Charlie Campbell. He is such a gifted communicator and so solid in his teaching. Put this on your calendar so that you don’t miss it. He will be with us from April 20-21, 2024.
- SECOND ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF will be on Friday, February 16, 2024. Talk about a fun, tasty competition! Plan to enter this wonderful event with your favorite chili.
