PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR BOB DINSMORE (Thursday, 12/28 at 10:30 AM) THERE WILL BE NO PRAYER TIME ON THAT DAY.
1. Many thanks from the staff to you our Jubilee family. You make Christmas so special for us with your cards, gifts, and goodies. We were blessed.
2. Next Sunday is New Year’s Eve. We will have just one service at 10 AM. We are excited about what is already planned for the New Year. We hope you can be present to ring in the New Year with faith and fervor.
3. Perhaps you can help. Pastor Leonard has two memorial services this week – Thursday, Dec. 28th at 10:30 for Bob Dinsmore and Friday, Dec. 29th at 10:30 for Bruce Byrd. Anita Larson is our events coordinator. If you could help with set up, food, etc. please call her at 805-901-5578. That would lighten her load.
4. Year-end Giving. You have been so faithful in your stewardship all year long. That has been such a blessing to me, as a pastor. Sometimes people want to give an extra gift at year’s end to improve their tax situation. Just a reminder it has to be given before the end of the year.
5. Baptism – we have at least two people who want to be baptized soon. Baptism is something Jesus wants us to do. It is a public testimony that one has a personal faith relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. If you haven’t been baptized since becoming a Christian, this would be a good time to do so. Forms are available at the Welcome Center.
6. Church Membership – I love to encourage people to officially join the church. It is Biblical. Jesus established the local church and the apostles carried out their ministry through the church. Membership in the rest of the fellowship speaks of commitment. In these days when the world’s trying to silence the voice of the Church, our hearts must be committed to each other in love. Membership also speaks of accountability. It is one way that the church can protect itself from unsound teachings and practices. Forms are available at the Welcome Center. We hope you will pray about joining.
7. In the New Year, I want to schedule some day trips and one event that is longer. If you have ideas of places you think groups of our people might like to visit, please feed your ideas to us.
8. Men’s Breakfast and Bible study will be on Thursday at 6 AM. Come and eat, fellowship, and grow through the meditation … “God Loves to Communicate with Us” … you will be inspired and glad you came.
9. Put these events on your 2024 calendar:
- Annual Chili Cook-off … Friday, February 16th at 6 PM.
- Our first dinner honoring our church leaders (Church Board, Missions Board, Deacons & Deaconesses). This is different from the dinner honoring our volunteers that we have done in the past. It is scheduled for Friday, March 15th.
- Our Spring Bible Conference, with Charlie Campbell is scheduled for April 20&21. He is a favorite at Jubilee. It will be great to have him back.
