1. Have you checked out our church library lately? There is a wonderful assortment of books and commentaries there. Jackie Peterson does a tremendous job of screening the books and organizing the categories. A good time to visit is between services or drop by during the week.
2. Membership Class will be held, on Sunday, February 4th right after the second service. A light lunch will be served. If you are interested in attending the class in preparation for becoming a member, please contact the church office ASAP. You will need to pick up the membership application, complete it, and bring it to the meeting. A personal faith relationship with Jesus Christ is required. We would love to have you join.
3. Our Second Annual VJF Chili Cookoff is February 16th at 5 PM! Only 10 tickets are left! The $10 dinner includes chili (or soup), cornbread muffin, Caesar salad, Foster Freeze ice cream, and beverages. It’s going to be a great evening of food, fun, and fellowship … and a little toe-tapping!
4. NEWS FLASH!! There will be NO MOVIE NIGHT in February. The Chili Cookoff is a major event and requires a lot of preparation. Our next movie night is scheduled for Friday, March 8th.
5. Attention MEN!! Every Thursday at 6 AM we meet for breakfast, fellowship, worship, and time in the Word. We are presently showing a video series on the Rapture, by Dr. David Jeremiah. It is excellent and well worth rolling out of bed to see.
6. SAVE THE DATE!! Be sure you have the weekend of April 20-21 marked on your calendar for our Spring Bible Conference with Charlie Campbell. He is an excellent speaker and we want everyone to hear him.
7. The Women’s Bible Study (WBS) is continuing with their study in Proverbs. You are welcome to join any time. Coffee and snack fellowship time is at 9:30 AM followed by worship and the study at 10 AM, every Wednesday.
8. GOTTA LOVE SALES!! We hear that several of you are already working on gathering supplies for your OCC shoeboxes. Here are a few helpful hints: Dollar Tree is well stocked with really cute teddy bears and doll clothes as well as name-brand pencils. Walmart has clearance things throughout the store at 70% off!
9. Little Bit-O-Housekeeping. Recently, we’ve noticed that folks are sharing their home goods by placing them on the Information Table. We sincerely appreciate the desire to share; however, we do not have the space or ability to distribute additional items like calendars, magazines, or handy household items. All our shelves and cupboards are packed full. Also, please DO NOT BRING in pill bottles. We do not have room for any OCC items at this time.
