2. You are Invited to a wonderful evening of Christian music at Ventura Missionary church, 500 High Point Drive on Friday, May 17th, from 6 – 7:30 PM. It is a fund-raising event for Casa De Vida, which is a rehab home for people with alcohol problems. There is no charge, but you can contribute to the love offering if you wish.
3. Also, this Friday, May 17th is Jubilee’s Movie Night. We will be showing “Wish Man” a true story based on the founder of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Frank Shankwitz. Come at 6 PM and bring snacks!
4. Maybe you can help? About the last week in June, we plan to install new carpet in the sanctuary, foyer, hallways, office, and several classrooms. The project will cost over $34,000. We have the money to do it, but it will come out of our ministry funds. I was wondering if some of you might be able to help underwrite the project. If you can, mark it on your envelope “Carpet Project” and/or on the memo line of your check. Pray about it and if the Spirit nudges you then by all means give, Pastor Leonard.
5. Membership – Our next membership class will be Sunday, June 2nd, right after the 2nd service. We hope you will consider becoming a member. Application forms are available at the Welcome Center. Return your form as soon as possible so that Pastor Leonard can meet with you before the class. Also, if you have never been baptized, we encourage you to follow God’s word and share your conversion with fellow believers. Please complete a Baptism Application form, they are available at the Welcome Center. Pastor Leonard will then meet with you about your desire.
6. It’s Church Directory time. We will be printing our Summer 2024 update in June and hope to have your current information as well as a new or renewed picture! Please complete a “green card” at the Welcome Center with any additions or changes to your directory information. Also, if you want to add your picture, or update your picture, plan to come to the church conference room/library between services on May 19 & 26.
7. A summer Women’s Bible Study for all ladies will start June 12th. We got an awesome deal on the book and Study Guide by Amir Tsarfati! Both for only $10. Sign up at WBS on Wednesday or Sunday morning at the Café.
8. Men’s Breakfast & Bible Study every Thursday at 6 AM. It is so exciting to see a good number of men turn out each time and our chefs always produce a great breakfast for just $5.00. If you haven’t attended, give us a try …you’ll be very glad you did!
9. A fantastic opportunity – We just got word that we can have Steve Amerson, who is a great Christian and a professional singer with a worldwide ministry. He is so hard to schedule because he is in great demand. He offered to come on May 26th, which is Memorial Day Weekend. So, we have scheduled him for that Sunday at 6 PM. I hope all of you will plan to be present. He will do some patriotic and the rest Christian or Gospel music. Since we don’t have a lot of time to promote the concert, I am asking you to pass the word and invite people to attend. I would love to have every seat occupied.
10. Just in case you did not get the news – our Women’s Ministry took on the project of raising $3,000 to purchase Action Bibles for Child Evangelism Fellowship, to use in their ministry to children. The Bibles cost $10 each. The whole church was invited to participate in the project. Instead of being able to purchase 300 Bibles, you gave enough to purchase 516 Bibles! Praise the Lord!
11. Please pray for Diane White and her family. Her husband, Harold White, went to be with the Lord this past Saturday morning. What a difference it makes when a loved one knows the LORD. Harold’s Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, June 8th at 11 AM. A reception to follow.
