1. 2024 CHILI COOKOFF – This Friday, Feb. 16 @ 5 PM! We now have a waiting list and urge you to contact the office if you are unable to use your reservation. We have several who would still like to attend. If you are inclined to join in, as a contestant, we still have one opening. Contact the office ASAP, at 805-535-4325.
2. This Sunday, as Pastor Leonard continues with his mini-series on prophecy, he will be teaching on the Great Tribulation. He hopes you can be present, in person. If you missed the first teaching, on the RAPTURE, you can stream it from our website vjf.church
3. Looking Ahead – Our next Tuesday Luncheon will be on March 12th at noon. Our guest speaker will be attorney Sam Huestis. He will share with us on Estate Planning. Watch for further information.
4. Membership – as we mentioned on Sunday, we will only be having three membership classes in 2024. The next two will be in June and October. Membership application forms are available at the Welcome Center. You can complete the form and turn it into the office.
5. You are welcome to join our Women’s Bible Study any time. Meetings are on Wednesday mornings. We start with fellowship and snacks at 9:30 AM, then move into our worship and study time at 10 AM. If you need the Proverbs study book, contact the office.
6. GREAT NEWS – As we mentioned on Sunday, during our last Missions Conference in August, we raised $45,000 specifically for Trailhead Ministries, which they were to match. They have done that and the permits are being pulled, even now. When that process is complete, construction on the new church in Panama will begin. Thank you, Jubilee, for your part in this venture.
7. MARCH MOVIE NIGHT. Our next MOVIE NIGHT will be Friday, March 8 at 6 PM. We will be featuring THE HILL, starring Dennis Quaid. Awesome story. Plan to come and bring a friend.
8. VJF Ladies Bunco Night. Mark your calendars, girlfriends!! Our next Bunco Night will be Monday, March 18 at 6 PM. Watch for more details about the fun, food, and fellowship. Plan to bring a friend.
9. Men’s Breakfast & Bible Study, every Thursday at 6 AM, a group of men meet for a great breakfast, time of worship, and then, time in the Word. It is a great way to make new friends. We would love to have you join us.
10. In May of 2018, Jubilee’s 1st Anniversary, I wrote “My Vision for Ventura Jubilee Fellowship.” In it, I included “Ingredients of a Healthy Church” a research study by Stephen A. Marchia. They found that in healthy churches there was a strong focus on and the practice of prayer. God wants us to seek Him. We read where the Psalmist said, “Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress and He hears my voice.” When you are experiencing distress or need help … please let us know. It is troubling to hear about problems, hospital stays or needs well after the fact. We don’t need details; we just need to know that you (loved ones) need prayer. You will be blessed through this.
11. ALL-CHURCH PRAYER. Each Thursday at 11 AM we meet in the church library/conference room for an hour of prayer – bringing to the Lord Jesus our praises and requests for our church family, community, state, nation, and the work God is doing around the world. Join us.
12. Be sure to have this event marked on your calendar, April 20 & 21. A wonderful Bible Conference with Charlie Campbell. He is a favorite here. You will love his teaching.
13. This Sunday Pastor Leonard will be teaching on the next great event to happen in the fulfillment of Bible Prophecy — “The Tribulation.”
14. Several of you may recall Claude (Van) Vanlandingham, who was a member of Ventura Baptist in the 80’s & 90’s. Darlene Vanlandingham wanted to let you know that there will be a memorial service for him at Crosspointe Church, in Ventura, on Feb. 16th at 3 PM.
