1. “ISAIAH 53 EXPLAINED” – Do you have any Jewish friends that do not know Jesus? Pastor Leonard recently purchased a book titled, “Isaiah 53 Explained” by Dr. Mitch Glaser. Dr. Glaser was raised as an Orthodox Jew for many years and eventually became fully persuaded that Jesus Christ is truly their promised Messiah and our Savior. You can get the book from several sources: Amazon, eBay, Pango Books, etc. It is given close to a 5-star rating by those who have read it. Consider getting several copies and giving them to Jewish people you know.
2. Church Leadership – On September 17th we will have our annual business meeting where we will share with you all that Jubilee is doing, where we are financially, and elect our leaders. We have three boards that we will be electing members to: the Church Board, Missions Board, and Deacon Board. To serve on one of these boards you must be a member. As you pray about those whom you think would be good for leadership, ask them if they are a member. If they are, ask if they would be willing to serve. There are forms at the Welcome Center for you to use in recommending someone you think should be considered. The nominating committee is already at work, so you must act quickly if there is someone you want us to consider.
3. This Coming Sunday (6/18) is Father’s Day – We want to honor all fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, and those men who’ve had a father-like influence in both our services. We will have a special gift for each of you.
We will also continue our study of the book of James, particularly Chapter 1. Please read James 1 several times during the week. This Sunday we will focus on James 1:9-12, and the theme is “Problems Can Be a Blessing.”
4. Welcome Center Teams – We’re developing teams of two, to serve at the Welcome Center. Ideally, each team would serve once a month. Teams could be a couple, ladies, men, or both! Similarly, to our ushers, those who serve at the center, are the “face” of Jubilee. It’s that first impression that may be the lasting impression. Please give this ministry your prayerful consideration. You will be a blessing AND be blessed! Contact one of the pastors or the church office if you are interested.
5. JoyBells – Interested in becoming part of this exciting new handbell choir? Contact Carol Davis @ 559-246-2159. The Joybells practice Tuesday afternoons at 2 PM. There’s always room for 1 more!!
6. Child Evangelism Fellowship needs volunteers for their upcoming Ventura County Fair Ministry. Particularly they need persons – men or women – who are willing to share the Gospel using the Wordless Book at the Little Red Schoolhouse. Training is available. If you are able and willing to participate in this open-air ministry, any day between August 2 and 13, please visit their website (cefventura.org) and register.
7. Movie Night is Coming! This Friday, June 16 at 6 PM. Featuring “On a Wing and a Prayer” starring Dennis Quaid. No charge except to bring a snack to share, and perhaps invite a friend.
8. Ushers. Ushers. Ushers! We want all of our folks, members and visitors alike, to feel welcome when they enter the VJF Worship Center – greeted with a smile or handshake, given a bulletin, and possibly guided to a seat. Prayerfully consider serving as a “first representative” of Jesus. Contact our pastors, if interested.
9. Office Assistance – We are looking for a part-time person to provide administrative services to the pastors, office staff, people, and ministries of VJF. Interested? Please come to the office and pick up a detailed job description.
10. Our Grief Group Meeting is planned for TODAY, Tuesday, June 13th at 4 PM in the Library/Conference Room.
11. Bible Alive – There are four classes – one for men (Romans), one for women (John), and two for anyone who wants to attend (Luke and Paul’s Gospel). You are welcome to join a class at any time. Remember, you get to know God’s character and nature through His Word. Our teachers are excellent. You’ll have the chance to interact, ask questions and dig deeper. PLUS – You’ll build lasting friendships! Make Bible Alive part of your Sunday celebration!!
12. “His Truth is Marching On” – Our choir, under the direction of Pastor Mike Sherrow, will present this special message in music on Sunday, July 2 in both services (10 AM and 11:30 AM). Please mark your calendar and plan to be in worship that day. You, your family, and your friends will enjoy the powerful arrangements of new songs and patriotic favorites, and be challenged to give thanks to God for our country.
A Loss in Our Church Family – Our beloved Rose Marie Voelker went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning at 2 AM. She was a wonderful friend and servant of the LORD. Her sweet spirit and contagious laugh will be greatly missed. We will keep you posted regarding service arrangements.
