MY
I believe that Jesus was the most unselfish person who ever lived. Recently when I was preparing a lesson, my attention was drawn to a phrase used over and over. It is the phrase Gave Himself. (F. M. March)
He gave Himself for our sins. Galatians 1:4
He gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. Ephesians 5:25
Who gave Himself for us. Titus 2:14
Who He Himself had purged our sins. Hebrew 1:3
He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Hebrews 9:26
Who gave Himself a ransom for all.
F. M. Marsh, in his wonderful book, Fully Furnished picked up on the word My. He gave the Biblical reference but I am going to write out the verse also. If you aren t blessed by what you are about to read, check your pulse because you may already by dead.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciple and said, ˜Take eat; this is My body. Matthew 26.26
Likewise, He also took the cup after supper, saying: ˜This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you. Luke 20:20
I am the good Shepherd. The good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.
Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have. Luke 24:39
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 5:24
And I also say to you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18
Jesus said to her, ˜Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ˜I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God. John 20:17
Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lovely in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear let any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being made with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said, ˜So I swore in My wrath they shall not enter My rest. Hebrews 4:1-3
And it shall come to pass in the last day, says God, ˜that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh ¦ Acts 2:17
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My Laws in their mind, and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God and they shall be My people. Hebrews 8:10
He who has My Commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him. John 14:21
My sheep hear My voice and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27
These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you and that your joy may be full. John 15:11
And whatever you ask in My Name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13 (15:16; 16:23-26)
And He said to Me, ˜My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness John 12:9
As the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. John 15:9
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:28
Let both (tares and wheat) grow together until the harvest and the time of harvest I will say to the reapers ˜First gather together the tares and bind them together in bundles and burn them, but gather the wheat into My barn.
Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
John 17:24
What a gracious, glorious LORD we have in Jesus Christ! He loves to give. He loves to bless. He loves to lavish His love on us. I hope you will keep this meditation nearby and visit it again and again to absorb the richness of His grace toward us.
In Christ alone,
Pastor Leonard
