My brother from Ohio called me the other day because he had heard the weather reports for Southern California. He was amazed to hear about the possibility of snow in Los Angeles County. Then the other day my family decided to take in a movie. When we got off the exit for the movie theatre, I noticed a quick “snapshot” of tall palm trees in the foreground and snow-capped mountains in the background. I laughed at the sight and said: “Can you believe this weather?”
Sometimes when (as believers) we experience something over and over again (like nice SoCal weather) we might forget … God is still in control. So, when we experienced a “little surprise” … like ice on our windshield or snow on the Grapevine … I think it is God’s subtle nudge. He nudges us to say, “Gotcha ya! Just letting you know I am still in control!”
Here is a good reminder from King David: 1 Chronicle 29:11-12 (NLT) – “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. 12 Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion, people are made great and given strength.”
What kind of God nudges have you seen lately? In what ways has God nudged you to say, “Gotcha ya! Just letting you know I am still in control!” His nudges may surprise us … but they are meant to let us be reminded of His sovereignty! So, this weekend, … when it is raining again … take a moment to voice a quick prayer thanking God for being in control!
